I've made a random anime which is to some extent like a recommendation so why not do the same for games? This title is definitely not original. Hell, i copy it from extra credit, credits to them for doing these. Like theirs, the games i'll mention might not be good but they're interesting in their own way. I'll stick to the games that i have played too rather than writing someone else's recommendations. Another disclaimer, i tend not to care about graphics, so some of what i'm about to mention has mediocre graphics, but i assure you, the gameplay or story is fantastic for those bad graphic games.
1. Risk of Rain
I've played this a lot and it's really fun especially when you break the game. Alright, warning first, the graphic is that of an 8 bit games and there are hardly any story at all but the gameplay is really fun especially if you play it with a friend. The gameplay is your usual 2D platformer hack and slash (and shoot) with various jobs to pick. Some are melee and others ranged. Each and every one of them has special skills and different way to play. Seriously just gather a friend or two to play this game, it's a lot of fun i assure you. Especially if you play on glass and when you got hit twice, you're dead.

2. Recettear an Item Shop's Tale
Bored on being the badass protagonist in a fantasy world? Want to settle in and live out your life as someone who runs an item shop? You, my friend, has a weird wish but this game gives you just that. The setting is you're in a fantasy world but rather than being the hero, you're a girl who runs an item shop after her parents leave her with a ton of debt. To pay this debt, she opens an item shop and capitalist on literally everything. Does this sound boring? I hope not because it's not. Buying stuffs like armors, weapons, foods, etc and selling them higher to gain profit is surprisingly fun.

3. FTL: Faster Than Light
To sum up this game briefly, it's a spaceship battle in a roguelike setting. Like in every roguelike game ever, there's perma-death and randomized world. I do have to warn you though, this game is quite hard until you get the hang of it. You will die. A lot. And when you think you're doing well, the final boss wull wreck you hard. But after you get pass this loop of death, you'll enjoy this game a lot. There's even a mod that adds the difficulty as if the game isn't hard as it is. Try it and you'll lose hours to this game. I did.

4. Hammerwatch
Hammerwatch is a hack n slash, dungeon crawler game. The story... to be honest, it's not important, the graphics isn't great but the gameplay is where this game shines. I'll say this right off the bat, this game is designed for multiplayer so gather a few friends to play this, it's more enjoyable that way. You can play it 1-4 players, the more players you have, the more fun you'll have. In this game, you can pick a selection of class, each one with their own style of play and try to beat the game. But be warned, the difficulty can be quite challenging at times. Especially the first boss. Just try it, i highly recommend it for games to play with your friends.

5. Summon Night: Swordcraft Story 1 & 2
The First game |
You can play either the first one or the second, it doesn't matter, both are a great game. The story isn't connected too so you can play the second one without playing the first. I think i have to say this, this is a GBA game. Yes, GBA. Don't let the platform fool you, it's actually a lot of fun. In both stories, you take on the role of a craft knight, basically someone who make your own weapons and fight with it. You're the warrior and the blacksmith at the same time and the game emphasize on this idea quite well I'd say. The gameplay isn't a turn based one thankfully, it's more of a 2D side scrolling action type battle. I think I did a horrendous job at explaining it, try it yourself, I assure you that you'll have fun.
