- Synopsis (Source: MAL):

Saki Miyanaga is a high school freshman who doesn't like mahjong. Ever since she was a child, she would lose her New Year's gift money during her family mahjong game. If she won, her parents would be upset, and if she lost, well, she lost. As a result, she's learned to play in such a way that her score differential always remains ±0: not good enough to win, but not bad enough to lose. When we meet her, she's being dragged to her school's mahjong club by an old friend. How will a girl who hates mahjong, yet has become adept at the game as a result of her upbringing, survive in this environment?

- Personal Thoughts (probably will be biased and has a bad quality, you have been warned):

This series really surprised me. I never thought i would enjoy a series about mahjong this much. At first i started this series just because i never seen a series about mahjong and be like "trying a few episodes wouldn't hurt" and then i ended up finishing 2 seasons of this series in like 3 days (this is due to the fact that i have exams incoming, if not i probably would finish it in a day or two). I start this series with little to no knowledge of mahjong nor interest in it, and now i somehow wants to learn how to play mahjong.
Kiyosumi High Mahjong Team. Ignore the guy in the back, he suck

The story follows our main female character, Miyanaga Saki who has this habit of getting ±0 in her matches. If you played mahjong before, getting ±0 everytime is actually harder than winning everytime. The mahjong club of Kiyosumi High saw the talents that she has and recruits her into their club. They somewhat convinced her to play to win rather than to break even and they decided to go to the nationals against all odds and facing all sorts of extraordinary players.
Rinshan Kaihou
Seriously, she make it look easy to get one. It's not

As to make this series more interesting, some players has a supernatural special ability related to mahjong. Just because some of them is amazingly impossible in real life, i'll list them here. First, we have our Rinshan Kaihou user, Saki. She literally could pull off a rinshan anytime she wants if no one is blocking her. Do you know how hard it is to get a rinshan? You need an amazing luck to be able to keep winning with it. There's also Amae Koromo, the one who use Haitei Raoyue like it's a normal thing to do. It's not! I could go on and on with this, there's still a lot of interesting abilities such as the dora collector, hell waiter (i will not do this. Ever.), and so on so forth. But nothing beats Teru... like seriously, she's OP af. Everyone starts off with 100,000 points and everyone is practically half working together to stop her winning streak and yet she still get like 6 or 7 wins in a row and ends up having over 100,000 points more than the one in the second place.
OP Miyanaga Teru is OP

This series of course also has its flaws. One of them is because this series focuses on tournaments, there are a ton of characters. And i can't even remember half of them. I do remember those from Kiyosumi, Amae Koromo (Haitei Raoyue for days), Shizuno (my favourite so far), those from Achiga, the amazing Teru, and so on. I'm quite sure there are a lot of people that have problems with its yuri fest. Yeah, there are an unhealthy amount of yuri in this series, not that i have any problems with it. I'm open for any genre except for yaoi, obviously.
Achiga Team

- Verdict:

All and all, this series is a lot of fun. Heck, I'm craving for a season 3 of it, gimme Kiyosumi vs Achiga vs Shiraitodai vs another school! I want to see Teru completely destroys everyone too! Damn it. I started this series with no knowledge aboit mahjong and by the end of it, i start to learn how to play it, that's just how good this series is. Yeah, it changed my view from "i don't care about mahjong but i'll watch this just for the heck of it" to "mahjong is surprisingly fun and gimme season 3!". Recommended to those who doesn't have any problems with mild yuri.
